I will die on this hill: We no longer live in a world where a good idea and a half-assed pitch deck are going to get you a few million dollars. The bar is higher and founders NEED to over-invest in their pitch deck along with every other touch point…
In fact, unless you’re Sam Altman or Elon Musk, your pitch deck is one of the most important documents you will ever create as an early-stage founder.
I review hundreds of pitches every single month and I can tell you that the competition for venture capital dollars is higher than it’s ever been.
An excellent pitch deck is now the standard, not the exception.
And, most investors aren’t willing to admit it, but a high-quality pitch deck has an outsized impact on the impression you make as a founder. It’s a window into everything else you’re going to do as a company.
If you’re paying attention to the smallest details in the pitch deck, you’re probably paying attention to those small details in your company, too.
