This is my philosophy as an investor. The vast majority of early-stage funds are bogged down by arbitrary rules and outdated patterns that define their entire strategy.
It limits the people they’re willing to speak to. It limits the industries they’re willing to investigate. It limits the companies that they are willing to invest in. And it limits the potential upside of their funds.
It’s one of the reasons why I’ve spent so many years as an angel investor. Learning to source, diligence, and invest in early-stage deals without any rules and guardrails has made me both creative and ruthlessly efficient.
My philosophy?
Fundraise like a venture fund, invest like an angel.
