Founder Friday is a new content series from SuperAngel.Fund highlighting companies in our portfolio and the inspiring founders behind them.
In our third edition, we are featuring Dane Baker, Co-Founder and CEO of EcoCart, a San Francisco-based company empowering shoppers to make their online orders carbon neutral with the click of a button. 🌎
EcoCart is driven by the mission to fight climate change in a manner that is simple, cost-effective, and accessible for everyone. They offer two main products: a Shopify app that any merchant can install into their online store giving customers the option to offset the environmental impact of their orders with a single click, and a free Chrome extension that calculates and offsets the carbon footprint of a consumer’s order.
Dane is the perfect person to helm the ship and tackle this problem. Yet another Forbes 30 Under 30 in our portfolio, Dane has been involved with several entrepreneurial projects focused on making the world a better place, including his last startup which was a peer-to-peer marketplace aimed at decreasing unnecessary consumption by optimizing rental over purchase for outdoor equipment.
Since teaming up with his college roommate and Co-Founder Peter Twomey in 2020, the company has already inked partnerships with over 2,000 retailers, covering 10,000 brand partners, and has offset more than 25,000,000 LBs of CO2 with 850,000 trees saved (and counting). Given the early success and focus, EcoCart successfully raised a $3m Seed round last year, led by Base10 Partners and Sugar Capital.
