There’s an epidemic of founders who post more than they actually build.
Until about 20 years ago, the role of “startup founder” was low status. And as a result, it only attracted the people who were obsessed with the problem they were solving. They became founders not because they wanted to, but because they HAD to.
But, as the process of building a startup developed into a mature “industry”, it drew people who were attracted to the status of being a “startup founder”.
There are so many self-professed founders and CEOs out there who spend hours each day posting online. Sometimes more time than they spend actually building!
Of course, there are always exceptions.
But, a good rule of thumb for early-stage founders: If they’re posting all the time, it probably means they’re not building.
