Founders: Ask your investors for help!
If you’re an early-stage founder, your most valuable resources are your team and your investors.
The problem is, most founders aren’t fully taking advantage of their investors’ expertise, talent, and network.
Luckily, it’s an easy fix. Just ask them for help!
Here’s what I tell all my founders: Next time you write your investor update, make a list of 2-3 actionable “asks” from your investors. You might need:
- Intros to new investors
- Intros to potential customers
- Intros to potential hires
- Strategy advice
- Help with a specific task
Investors love the opportunity to be useful to their portfolio companies beyond just writing the initial check.
Many of them got into investing so that they could use their skill set to help founders.
So… Help them help you!
